Our Pastor
is the Reverend James H. Brown, Sr.
Pastor Brown was born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Bishop
Heber Brown, Sr., and Mother Beatrice Anthony Brown. He was
blessed to be born into and nurtured by a loving spiritual family.
At a very early age Pastor Brown accepted
the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior and began
an active pursuit of walking with God. He served in various areas
of ministry at Brown's Chapel Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.
In the summer of 1989 he accepted the call to ministry and preached
his initial sermon in September 1989.
The following year, Pastor Brown united with the Second Baptist
Church in Long Branch, New Jersey, and served as an associate
minister under the leadership of Pastor C. P. Williams.
Pastor Brown is a gifted preacher, teacher,
psalmist, and musician.
He is a graduate of Monmouth College in West Long Branch, New
Jersey, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
He received his graduate theological training at the Eastern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and New York
Theological Seminary in New York City, Master of Divinity Programs.
In 1994 Pastor Brown was called to serve
as the second pastor of the United Fellowship Baptist Church,
Asbury Park, New Jersey. He immediately moved this young congregation
from the idea of "Coming in on broken pieces" to "Embarking
on new beginnings by faith." Numerous ministries were formed
and revitalized under the leadership of Pastor Brown. Many souls
were won for the kingdom, and United has
grown spiritually and numerically.
Pastor Brown also serves as president of Renaissance Ministries;
an association of churches united under the central focus of making
impact and changing lives in the church and community through
education, empowerment, and economics.
He is married to the love of his life, the former Marilyn Hampton:
and they have three lovely children James Jr., Kristen, and Jerell.
